Hey, guys, what’s up? It’s your boy back again with another blog post. Today, I want to talk about something that’s been on my mind for a while now: the 2004 New York Knicks roster. Man, that team was something else, right?
So, I started by hitting up the internet, just browsing around, you know, like we all do. I checked out a bunch of sites, trying to get a good overview of the team.
First, I was trying to remember all the players from that year. It’s been a while, so my memory was a bit fuzzy. I found this one site, that listed all the players who were on the team that year. Apparently, they used 19 different players in the regular season. That’s a lot of moving parts! Stephon Marbury was the guy who played the most games, which didn’t surprise me.
- Stephon Marbury
- And 18 others
Then I got curious about their record. How did they actually do that year? Turns out, it wasn’t great. They won 33 games and lost 49. Ouch. That’s a lot of losses. They ended up fourth in their division. Not exactly championship material.
Then I looked at the coaching situation. They started with Don Chaney, then they had Herb Williams for a bit, and finally Lenny Wilkens. I read that Lenny Wilkens quit after a bad start, and Herb Williams took over. It seemed like a mess.
Diving Deeper
After getting the basic stats, I wanted to know more about the individual players. I found a site that had all their details: jersey numbers, positions, height, birthdays, and even their draft info. It was pretty cool to see all that information in one place.
I also learned that the Knicks were established in 1946. That’s ancient history in basketball terms! They were actually pretty good in their early years, even making it to the finals three times in a row, but they lost each time. Bummer.
So, that’s my deep dive into the 2004 Knicks roster. It wasn’t a great year for them, but it was still interesting to look back and see how things played out. What do you guys think? Any memories of that team?
