Okay, so I was digging into this Sean Strickland guy, right? I mean, the dude’s been making waves in the UFC, and his record is nothing to sneeze at. 28 wins and 5 losses? That’s pretty darn impressive, if you ask me. So, I started by just watching some of his fights. I wasn’t really looking for anything specific, just wanted to get a feel for his style, you know?
First thing I noticed? This guy’s a solid striker. He’s got a good, strong jab, keeps his hands up, moves well. But he’s not just a stand-up fighter, oh no. He can grapple too. He can take you down, control you on the ground, he’s got a decent ground game. And let me tell you, the guy’s got a chin made of steel. I saw him take some serious shots, and he just kept coming forward.
Diving Deeper into His Stats
Then I started to get a bit more analytical, I’m like, “Okay, let’s see what the numbers say.” So, I looked up his stats, like his Significant Strikes Landed per Minute (SLpM), Significant Striking Accuracy (Str. Acc.), Significant Strikes Absorbed per Minute (SApM), and Significant Strike Defence (Str. Def.). You know, all that nerdy stuff.
- SLpM (Significant Strikes Landed per Minute): How many significant strikes he lands in a minute.
- Str. Acc. (Significant Striking Accuracy): How accurate he is with the strikes he throws.
- SApM (Significant Strikes Absorbed per Minute): How many significant strikes he gets hit within a minute.
- Str. Def. (Significant Strike Defence): How good he is at defending against strikes, like a percentage.
I watched a bunch of his fights. Like, a lot. And I started to notice some patterns. He’s a pressure fighter, always moving forward, always in your face. He’s not afraid to take a hit to give one, and he’s really good at controlling the pace of the fight.
Remembering His Win
Then, recently, he pulled off this crazy upset and became the middleweight champion. I mean, talk about a shocker! Nobody saw that coming. I went back and watched that fight a couple more times. It was wild, man. Just a completely unexpected victory. He went in there as the underdog and came out on top.
I also found this one fight he had way back in 2018, against this guy Nordine Taleb. I watched that one too. It was a good fight, Strickland showed a lot of skill. It was clear even back then that he had a lot of potential.
So yeah, that’s my deep dive into Sean Strickland. I watched his fights, I checked out his stats, I saw him become the champ, and I even went back and watched some of his older fights. It was a fun little project, and it definitely made me appreciate him more as a fighter.
