Okay, so today I decided to finally get myself a UFC bag for my home workouts. I’ve been doing a lot of bodyweight stuff, but I wanted something to really punch and kick, you know, to let off some steam and get a better workout.
Getting Started
First, I spent some time looking around online. There are tons of different types – hanging bags, free-standing bags, different sizes, different materials… It was a bit overwhelming, honestly!
I decided I wanted a free-standing bag because I don’t really have a good place to hang a heavy bag in my apartment. Plus, I liked the idea of being able to move it around if I needed to.
Making the Choice
After narrowing it down, I compared a few different models. I looked at the reviews, checked the prices, and thought about what size would be best for my space and my height (I’m not exactly a giant, so I didn’t need the biggest one out there!).
Finally, I picked one that seemed like a good balance of price and quality. It wasn’t the cheapest, but it had good reviews, and it looked pretty sturdy.
Setting It Up
The bag arrived a few days later. It was in a HUGE box. Getting it inside was the first workout!
The base needed to be filled with either water or sand. I opted for water because it seemed easier. Let me tell you, filling that thing up took a while. I used a garden hose, and it probably took a good 30 minutes of constant filling.
Once the base was full, I attached the bag part to the base. It was pretty straightforward, just a few bolts.
The First Workout
And then… time for the fun part! I put on some gloves, wrapped my wrists, and started going at it.

- I practiced some basic punches – jabs, crosses, hooks.
- Then I moved on to some kicks – front kicks, roundhouse kicks.
- I even tried a few spinning kicks, though I’m definitely no expert at those!
It felt GREAT. Seriously, I was sweating like crazy after just 15 minutes. It’s such a good way to get out any frustration and just… move.
Final Thoughts
I have been using it several times a day these days and I am very happy that I bought this.
It is a really enjoyable sport for me to get moving every day.
So yeah, that’s my UFC bag experience so far. It’s definitely a worthwhile investment if you’re looking for a good home workout option. Just be prepared for the filling process – that’s a workout in itself!
