Okay, so I saw the Wake Forest vs Vanderbilt matchup coming up and thought, alright, let’s try and figure this one out. It’s always kinda fun trying to guess how these games will go down.

Getting Started
First thing I did was just pull up some basic info. You know, how have these teams been doing lately? Didn’t want to get too deep into crazy analytics right away, just needed a general feel. So I looked up their recent schedules and scores.
I checked out Wake Forest’s last couple of games. Looked at who they played, what the scores were. Did the offense look like it was clicking? Was the defense holding up? Just trying to get a picture in my head.
Then I did the same for Vanderbilt. Went through their recent results. Any big wins? Any tough losses? How were they scoring, and how many points were they giving up? It’s pretty straightforward stuff, just gathering the raw facts first.
Digging a Bit Deeper
After looking at the scores, I started thinking about the players a bit. Who’s the quarterback for each team? Are they playing well? Sometimes one guy can really make a difference. So I looked up some basic stats for the QBs – passing yards, touchdowns, maybe interceptions if they stood out. Did the same for maybe a key running back or receiver if someone seemed important in the box scores I saw.
I also did a quick search for any big news. Injuries are huge. Is a star player out for either team? That can totally change the game plan. So I spent a few minutes just scanning headlines for “Wake Forest football injury” and “Vanderbilt football injury”. Found a couple of mentions, noted them down mentally.
Did they play each other recently? Sometimes there’s history there. I checked if they had a game last year or the year before, how that went. Doesn’t always mean much for this year, but it’s another piece of the puzzle.
Putting it Together (My Way)
Alright, so now I had a bunch of bits and pieces:
- Recent game performances.
- A general idea of offensive and defensive strength.
- Info on key players and any injuries.
- A little bit of history, if any.
This is where it gets less scientific and more just… feeling it out. I started comparing things. Wake Forest seemed to have a more consistent offense based on what I saw in their recent games. Their QB’s numbers looked pretty solid. Vanderbilt, on the other hand, seemed a bit up and down. They had a decent game here or there, but also struggled sometimes, especially against teams with good offenses.

Their defense looked like it might have trouble stopping Wake’s passing attack. That felt like a key point to me. Even considering Vanderbilt playing at home (I checked where the game was), I leaned towards Wake Forest being able to put up points.
So, my thinking process led me here: Wake Forest seems more reliable on offense right now. Vanderbilt might struggle to keep up if Wake gets going. Injuries didn’t seem like a massive factor swinging it dramatically either way from what I could tell quickly.
The “Prediction” Part
Based on all that poking around, I ended up feeling like Wake Forest has the edge. I’m thinking they’ll probably win this one. It wasn’t some super deep dive, just looking at the available stuff and going with my gut based on that.
Of course, it’s college football, right? Anything can happen. One team could come out flat, the other could play out of their minds. Maybe Vandy’s defense steps up big time at home. You never really know for sure until they play the game. This is just how I landed on my guess after spending a bit of time looking into it this morning.
Anyway, that was my process. Just wanted to share how I went about thinking through the Wake Forest vs Vanderbilt game. We’ll see how it actually plays out!
