Alright, alright, let’s gab a bit about them Lakers, the basketball fellas from Los Angeles. Heard some folks talkin’ ’bout who’s gonna be startin’ the games, the “starting lineup,” they call it. Sounds fancy, but it just means who gets to play first, I reckon. So, let’s see what the buzz is all about, this starting lineup for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Now, I ain’t no expert, mind you. Just a regular person who likes watchin’ them tall boys runnin’ and jumpin’ with that orange ball. But even I can tell ya, some players are more important than others, at least when the game starts. They got this fella, Anthony Davis. Big fella, plays real close to the basket. He’s gonna be startin’, that’s for sure. They say he’s a “power forward,” means he’s strong and tough, like a bull in a china shop, but hopefully a bit more graceful.
Then there’s this other guy, LeBron James. Even I know him! He’s been playin’ forever, it seems. Old as dirt, but still jumps around like a young’un. He’s a “small forward,” they say. Not so small if you ask me, but what do I know? He’s important, real important. He handles the ball a lot, passes it around, and scores too. He’s like the rooster in the henhouse, always in charge. If LeBron ain’t startin’ then somethin’ ain’t right.
- LeBron James – Small Forward – Gotta be startin’, he’s the main man.
- Anthony Davis – Power Forward – Big and strong, gets all them rebounds.
Now, the guard fellas, they’re the quick ones, dribblin’ the ball all over the place. They got this Max Christie, young fella, quick as a hiccup. He just signed a new contract, so he must be pretty good. I heard they’re countin’ on him, hopin’ he’ll be a star someday. They also got Austin Reaves. Folks seem to like him, cheer real loud when he does somethin’ good. He can shoot that ball real well, swish, right through the net. So, I’m guessin’ those two will be startin’ too, runnin’ around and passin’ the ball to LeBron and Anthony.
And who’s gonna be the big man in the middle, the “center”? Well, they got a bunch of ‘em. There’s Jaxson Hayes. He’s tall, real tall, taller than my barn door. And they just signed some other fellas too, Christian Koloko and Collin Castleton. But from what I hear, it might be Jaxson Hayes gettin’ the start. He’s young and athletic, they say. Gotta have someone big and strong down there to grab them rebounds and block shots, keep the other team from scorin’ easy.
So, if I had to guess, and that’s all I’m doin’ here, just guessin’, like tryin’ to predict the weather, the Lakers starting lineup would be somethin’ like this:
- Max Christie – Guard – Fast little fella, good at dribbling.
- Austin Reaves – Guard – Shoots the ball real good, folks love him.
- LeBron James – Small Forward – Like I said, the rooster, gotta have him.
- Anthony Davis – Power Forward – Big fella, gets all them rebounds.
- Jaxson Hayes – Center – Tall and strong, blocks shots, keeps the other team from scorin’ easy.
Now, that’s just my guess, mind you. Things can change. Folks get hurt, or they don’t play so good, and then someone else gets a chance. They also signed this new fella, Dalton Knecht, a rookie they call him. Don’t know much about him, but maybe he’ll get a chance to play too. And they got this other fella, Rui Hachimura, another “power forward.” He might get some starts too, depends on how Anthony Davis is doin’, I reckon.
Heck, they play a lot of games, these fellas. Eighty-two games in a season, can you believe that? That’s more chickens than I got in my coop! So, they can’t just play the same five fellas every game. They gotta give other guys a chance, let ‘em rest up, or they’ll get tired and start playin’ like a bunch of sleepy cows. But at the start of the game, that’s when you want your best players out there, tryin’ to get ahead right from the get-go.
They’re startin’ the season against some tough teams, I heard. The Timberwolves, the Suns… Sounds like fancy names for birds, but they’re basketball teams, I guess. Gotta be ready for them, can’t just go out there and hope to win. Gotta have a plan, and that plan starts with the starting lineup. It’s like plantin’ seeds in the spring, gotta get the right ones in the ground if you want a good harvest in the fall.
So, there you have it, my best guess at who’ll be startin’ for the Lakers this year. Don’t take it to the bank, like I said, I’m just an old woman who likes watchin’ basketball. But from what I’ve seen and heard, those five fellas, Max Christie, Austin Reaves, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Jaxson Hayes, they’re the ones they’re countin’ on, at least at the start of the games. We’ll see how it all shakes out, won’t we? Basketball’s like life, full of surprises. One minute you’re up, the next you’re down. But as long as them Lakers keep fightin’, keep tryin’ their best, that’s all that matters, ain’t it?
And that’s about all I got to say about the starting lineup for the Los Angeles Lakers this year.
