Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with Madden 24’s franchise mode lately, specifically the fantasy draft, and let me tell you, it’s a wild ride. I decided to document my whole process, you know, for science and maybe to help some fellow gamers out there not make the same dumb mistakes I did.
First things first, I fired up the game and jumped straight into creating a new franchise. I went with the fantasy draft option because, why not? It’s way more fun than just sticking with the default rosters. I enabled the “Edit Draft Class Strength” options.
Before I even started the draft, I spent a good chunk of time just researching players. Yeah, sounds boring, but it’s crucial. I looked at their ratings, their potential, and tried to figure out which positions were deep and which were kinda shallow. This year, it seemed like wide receivers and running backs were stacked, but finding a solid tight end was like searching for a needle in a haystack.
First Round
- With my first pick, I snagged a beast of a quarterback. It’s always a good idea to lock down that position early, especially in a fantasy draft.
Next Several Rounds
I focused on getting a solid running back and a couple of top-tier wide receivers. It’s tempting to go all-in on offense, but I knew I needed to start thinking about defense too.
- I grabbed a couple of cornerbacks and a safety. They might not be the flashiest picks, but trust me, having a good secondary is key.
- Then, I focused on building my offensive and defensive lines. I looked for young guys with high potential, hoping they’d develop into stars over time.
- I tried to balance my team, I drafted a mix.
Middle Rounds
This is where things got tricky. All the big names were gone, and I had to start digging for those hidden gems.
- I spent a lot of time looking at players’ development traits. Finding guys with “Quick” or “Superstar” development can make a huge difference down the line.
- I also made sure to grab a decent kicker and punter. Yeah, I know, special teams aren’t glamorous, but they can win you games.
Later Rounds
Honestly, these rounds were a bit of a blur. I was mostly just trying to fill out my roster and maybe find a couple of sleepers who could surprise everyone.
- I ended up taking a chance on a few undrafted free agents. Who knows, maybe one of them will turn into the next Tom Brady.
- I also made sure to have backups at every position. Injuries happen, and you don’t want to be caught with your pants down.
After what felt like hours, the draft was finally over. I leaned back, looked at my roster, and thought, “Well, let’s see how this goes.” I’ve played a few games so far, and it’s been a mixed bag. Some of my picks are killing it, while others… well, let’s just say they’re still “developing.” But hey, that’s the fun of a fantasy draft, right? You never know what you’re gonna get. It’s all about taking risks, making adjustments, and hoping for the best. And who knows, maybe this ragtag team of mine will surprise everyone and make a run for the Super Bowl. Fingers crossed!
