Okay, so today, I wanna talk about this guy, Matt Furman. You might not know the name, but you’ve probably seen his work. Let me tell you how I found out about him.
So, I was browsing around, looking for some cool comics to read. You know, just killing time. And I stumbled upon some lists of highly-rated comics. Saw some familiar titles, like “Planetary” by Warren Ellis, and “Mind MGMT” by Matt Kindt, which, by the way, are amazing. But a lot of people were raving about this other creator, Matt Furman.
I got curious, so I did a little digging. Turns out, this dude is pretty well-known in the comics world, especially for his work on Transformers. Yeah, the robots in disguise! Apparently, he’s been writing those stories for like, 20 years or something. That’s a long time! I saw some news about a hardcover book that collected a bunch of his Transformers stuff.
Then I saw some chatter about an Image Comics series he was doing. I didn’t catch the name, but it sounded wild, something about a “long-dicked-over comics pioneer” and his family? I don’t know, sounded kinda out there, but people seemed to love it.
I even found a press release from some company called Dreamwave, talking about how Furman’s work was going to “unravel” the Transformers universe. Sounds dramatic, right? It definitely got my attention. I started to feel like I was missing out on something big, you know?
And the more I looked, the more I realized that this guy, Matt Furman, is a big deal. I saw people saying 2024 was a great year for comics, and mentioning Furman’s work in the same breath as some big names at Marvel. That’s when I knew I had to check this guy out.
So, I decided to dive in. I grabbed a few of his comics, and let me tell you, I was not disappointed. This guy’s got a real talent for storytelling. It’s like, one minute you’re reading a fun story about giant robots, and the next you’re thinking about all sorts of deep stuff. I have to find more. I think I will find more of his work tomorrow. I really enjoy the process of reading his work.
Anyway, that’s my story about how I discovered Matt Furman. If you’re into comics, especially Transformers, or just good stories in general, you should definitely check him out. Trust me, you won’t regret it!
