Alright, guys, so I wanted to get this build down – “Max the Impaler” in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. I’d seen some chatter online, and I was like, “Okay, let’s see if I can make this work.”

First things first, I started a new game. Yeah, I know, commitment, right? But I wanted a clean slate to really focus on this build. I messed around with the difficulty, settled on something in the middle – not too easy, not too brutal. I wanted to, you know, feel like an impaler, but I also didn’t want to spend hours getting wrecked.
Gear and Abilities
Next up: Gotta grab a spear. Obviously. I went with what was available early on. It doesn’t really matter which spear at first, just something pointy. The Fyrd Spear is a good starter, I found it pretty quick, pretty good.
The key ability, the thing that makes this whole build work, is Rush & Bash. I made a beeline for that on the skill tree. I ignored pretty much everything else until I got that. It’s all about charging in and, well, impaling people. It’s glorious, trust me.
Then, the armor…Honestly? Didn’t matter too much at first. I just equipped whatever gave me decent stats. I favored stuff with health boosts, because, you know, you’re gonna be in the thick of it. I ended up rocking the Mentor’s Armor, when i finally got it.
- Rush & Bash: My bread and butter. Seriously, I spammed this like crazy.
- Any Spear I Could Find Early On: Eventually, you’ll want to upgrade, but at the start, anything works.
- The Mentor’s Set: This one worked very well.
Putting It All Together (aka Impaling Time!)
Once I had Rush & Bash, the game changed. I went around and practiced on random soldiers. The basic strategy? Charge, impale, repeat. It’s super satisfying, watching those guys go flying.
I focused on upgrading Rush & Bash whenever I could. The upgrades make it even more powerful, letting you chain attacks and do more damage. I also started looking for runes that boosted spear damage and melee damage in general. Every little bit helps, you know?
I did some raiding, and it works good. Max the Impaler loves a good raid. Just charging into a group of enemies and sending them flying? Chef’s kiss. Perfect.
It is not a subtle build. Stealth is not a very useful word. But who needs stealth when you can just run in and impale everyone? Not this guy.

So yeah, that’s my “Max the Impaler” build. It’s a blast. It’s messy. It’s probably not the most efficient way to play, but it’s definitely one of the most fun. Give it a shot, and you’ll very likely see what I mean!
