So, today I wanted to mess around with something a bit different – golf, specifically focusing on Maxwell Ford’s techniques. I’ve heard a lot about him and figured, why not give it a shot? First thing I did was try to dig up some info on his methods. Found some bits and pieces about how some decoding thing turns “%2b” into a plus, and then that gets read as a space. Sounds confusing, right? Anyway, I moved on.
Next, I stumbled upon something about applications assigning values with a “+” via some API. Honestly, it went over my head, but it seemed vaguely related to the first thing I found. I kept going, hoping to find something more concrete about golf.
Then, I hit this equation thing – kE 0 = 0 – and it’s supposed to relate to Maxwell’s equations. I’m no physicist, so this was getting a bit too deep for me. I just wanted to learn about hitting a golf ball better, not solve complex equations! I decided to change gears and look for something more practical.
I found some website talking about cookies and clicking “accept,” which wasn’t what I was after, so I skipped that quickly. Then I found an ad for Gerber products that claimed to be super reliable. Okay, good to know, but still not about golf.
Trying to Find Real Golf Stuff
After that, I ran into some tax-related information about GSTR-2B and ITC. Now, I really don’t care about taxes when I’m trying to learn golf. This search was turning out to be a real mixed bag.
Then came something about “Gemma 2b-it” and “gte-large” embeddings. It mentioned Wikipedia, so I thought maybe it’s about summarizing information. But it quickly turned into tech jargon about text embeddings and AI models. Interesting, maybe, but not helpful for my golf quest.
I did find a brief description of Gemma as a family of open models from Google. It sounded high-tech and fancy, but again, nothing about golf swings or putting techniques. I was starting to get a bit frustrated at this point.
Still No Golf…
Then, just when I thought it couldn’t get any more random, I found flashcards about “binary format” and something called “CodePlex.” What does that even mean? And how does it relate to golf? I had no clue. The last thing I found was about “UNF 2A threads” used for bolts and screws. Seriously, what is going on with this search?
Finally, I decided to just go out to the local course and try to remember what little I knew about golf. I grabbed my old clubs, which I hadn’t used in ages, and headed out. I spent a couple of hours just hitting balls, trying different stances, and basically experimenting. No fancy techniques, just good old trial and error. I shanked a few, hooked a few, but also hit a few pretty decently. It wasn’t pretty, but it was fun, and that’s what mattered. I realized that sometimes, you just have to do it yourself and not get lost in the internet rabbit hole. Maybe I’ll look up Maxwell Ford again later, but for now, I’m just going to enjoy hitting some balls.
