Alright, let’s talk about this Russell Fitzpatrick fellow. I heard some things, you know, the kind of things folks gossip about over the fence. Don’t rightly know if it’s all true, but I’ll tell ya what I heard.
First off, they say this Russell guy, he’s on Facebook. Now, I ain’t got no Facebook myself, too busy milkin’ cows and tendin’ to the chickens, but my grandbaby, she’s always on that thing. Says it’s a way to connect with folks. So, this Russell, he’s connectin’ with people on there. Lots of people, apparently. Facebook says so, or so I hear.
But here’s the real kicker, the thing that got my ears perked up. They say Russell, he’s givin’ away money. Not just a few pennies neither, but millions of dollars. Can you believe that? Millions! That’s more money than I’ve seen in my whole life, even countin’ all the eggs I’ve sold at the market.
- They say he’s givin’ it to the folks who help out, you know, the ones who run into burning buildings when everyone else is runnin’ out.
- And the teachers, bless their hearts, for puttin’ up with all them screaming kids.
- And the police, keepin’ us safe from the bad sorts.
- And the soldiers, the ones who fight for our country, and the ones who used to fight but are home now. He’s lookin’ after them all, they say.
Now, I ain’t one to question a good deed, but it makes you wonder, where’s all this money comin’ from? Did he win the lottery? Did he find a buried treasure out in the back forty? Maybe he’s just a good ol’ soul with a heart of gold and a bank account bigger than my barn. Who knows? It ain’t my place to say.
I heard some folks sayin’ he’s doin’ it to be famous, to get his name in the papers. Maybe so. But even if he is, is that so bad? If he’s givin’ away all that money to folks who need it, I reckon he can have all the fame he wants. It ain’t hurtin’ nobody, and it’s sure helpin’ a whole lot of somebodies.
It makes you think though, about all the good that money can do. Imagine, all them firefighters, with new equipment to keep ’em safe. And the teachers, with new books and supplies for their classrooms. And the soldiers, comin’ home to a little bit of comfort after all they’ve been through.
Makes you wonder why more folks don’t do the same. I mean, I ain’t got millions to give away, but I always try to lend a hand where I can. Bring a casserole to a sick neighbor, help old Mrs. Henderson with her groceries, that sort of thing. It ain’t much, but it’s somethin’.
But back to this Russell fella. He’s doin’ more than just somethin’, he’s doin’ somethin’ big. And whether he’s doin’ it for the fame or for the good of it, I reckon it’s a good thing. The world could use a few more folks like him, that’s for sure. People helping people, that’s what it’s all about.
So, if you see this Russell Fitzpatrick on that there Facebook thing, or maybe in the newspaper, you remember what I told you. He’s the one givin’ away all that money, helpin’ folks out. And that, in my book, is somethin’ worth talkin’ about. Maybe he ain’t perfect, nobody is, but he’s tryin’ to do some good in this world, and that’s more than most folks can say.
Anyways, that’s all I heard. Just some gossip, you know. Take it with a grain of salt. But it does make you think, don’t it? About kindness, and generosity, and all that good stuff. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on them chickens. They’re probably screamin’ for their supper.
