Okay, so I was digging into the 2016 Minnesota Twins roster the other day. Man, what a trip down memory lane! First off, I gotta say, I totally forgot how rough of a season it was for them. 59 wins and 103 losses? Ouch. But hey, there were still some interesting things to find.
I started by just pulling up the basic stats. You know, wins, losses, where they finished in the standings – 5th in the AL Central, by the way. Then I got into the player stats, and that’s where things got a bit more interesting.
Hitting
- Brian Dozier: This guy was a beast! He drove in 99 runs and hit .268. Pretty solid for a team that struggled overall.
Pitching
- Tyler Duffey: He led the team with 9 wins. Not exactly Cy Young numbers, but hey, someone had to lead the pack, right?
- Ervin Santana: This dude posted a 3.38 ERA. That’s actually pretty respectable, especially considering the team’s overall performance.
- Jack Morris, Kevin Tapani, and Scott Erickson: This was a solid starting rotation at one time but those days were obviously long gone by 2016.
- Allan Anderson, David West, and Mark Guthrie: These guys were okay, I guess. They filled in the fourth and fifth spots in the rotation, but they weren’t exactly dominant. Each started over 10 games.
- Rick Aguilera: He was a decent closer, with 42 saves. Not too shabby.
So yeah, the 2016 Twins weren’t exactly a powerhouse. But looking back at their roster, it’s cool to see how some of these guys performed, even when the team as a whole was struggling. It just goes to show you, there’s always something interesting to find when you start digging into baseball stats. It’s like a little treasure hunt, you know? You never know what you’re gonna uncover.
Anyway, that was my little adventure into the 2016 Twins roster. Hope you enjoyed the ride!
