Okay, so let me tell you how I managed to get traded in MLB The Show 24. It wasn’t super obvious at first, but I figured it out through just playing the Road to the Show mode.

Starting Point: Wanting Out
So there I was, grinding away in the minors, finally got called up to the big leagues with the team that drafted me. It was cool at first, you know? But after a while, maybe half a season or so, I just wasn’t feeling it. Maybe it was the team, maybe I wasn’t getting the playing time I wanted, or maybe I just wanted to see if I could get onto a contender. Point is, I decided I wanted a trade.
Talking to the Agent
First thing I learned is you can’t just demand a trade whenever you feel like it. You gotta wait for your agent to check in with you. This usually happens a few times during the season. For me, it seemed to pop up maybe around the All-Star break, and then again later in the year. You’ll get like a notification or a specific interaction screen.
When the agent finally called me up, virtually speaking, he asked how things were going. This is your chance. I scrolled through the options, and there was definitely one that was something like “I’m not happy here” or “I think I’d like a change of scenery.” I picked the one that sounded most like I wanted out.
Be prepared: He might try to talk you out of it, ask if you’re sure, or tell you to stick it out. I just stuck to my guns. Told him, yeah, I really think a trade would be best for my career. You gotta be pretty direct.
The Waiting Game
Now, this is the part that takes some patience. After I told my agent I wanted a trade, nothing happened immediately. Like, nothing at all. I just kept playing games day in, day out. Sim some, play some. I wasn’t sure if my performance mattered much at this point. I tried to play decent, figuring a team would be more likely to trade for me if I wasn’t completely sucking wind.
- Played my scheduled games.
- Waited for any news.
- Checked my player card screen often, just in case.
It felt like it took weeks in game time. Maybe a month, maybe a bit more. There wasn’t like a progress bar or anything, which was kinda annoying. You just have to trust that the request is in the system.
The Trade Happens
Then one day, finally, loading into the main RTTS menu, I got the big notification. The GM, or maybe it was the agent again, popped up saying they’d found a trade partner. It showed the team I was going to. Boom. Done deal.
Packed my virtual bags and shipped off to the new squad. It was actually pretty cool seeing the new uniform and stadium. Felt like a fresh start.

My Thoughts on the Process
Overall, getting traded wasn’t super complicated, mostly just involved:
1. Waiting for the agent interaction.
2. Clearly stating you want a trade when you talk to him.
3. Being patient and continuing to play while the game sorts it out behind the scenes.
It wasn’t instant, and you don’t get to pick exactly where you go (at least I didn’t see an option for that), but if you just want out of your current situation, this is how I did it. Just gotta wait for the right moment with your agent and make your intentions clear. Good luck if you’re trying to do the same!
