Alright, let’s talk about this old yankee logo, you know, the one you see on them hats and stuff. I ain’t no expert, but I heard things, seen things, and I can tell ya a thing or two, the way I see it.
Now, they say this logo, this “NY” thingy, it’s been around longer than the baseball team itself. Can ya believe that? I mean, how can somethin’ be older than the fellas playin’ the game? Makes ya scratch your head, don’t it? But that’s what they say. They say it’s real old, like, older than me, and that’s sayin’ somethin’!
This “NY,” it ain’t just some letters slapped together, ya know. It’s got history, like them old houses downtown that seen better days. I heard it’s supposed to be somethin’ special, somethin’ about a policeman gettin’ shot way back when. A medal of honor, they called it. Imagine that, a policeman’s medal turnin’ into a baseball logo. Life’s funny that way, ain’t it?
Back in the day, the team wasn’t even called the Yankees. They was the Highlanders, or somethin’ like that, and before that, they was the Orioles down in Baltimore. Yeah, Orioles, like the bird. They had a good team way back then, winnin’ and all. But folks started callin’ ’em Yankees, and the name just stuck, like gum on your shoe. So, they changed the name official-like in 1913, or so I heard.
- First Logo: First, they had this big ol’ “O” on their shirts, for Orioles, ya know. That was their first logo, plain and simple. Nothin’ fancy, just a big letter.
- Tiffany & Co. Design: Then, someone told me Tiffany, yeah, that fancy jewelry store, they designed the “NY” logo. Can ya believe it? Them folks makin’ diamonds and rings also made a baseball logo. And they did it way back in 1903, for some Colonel Ruppert fella.
Now, they say this “NY” logo is one of the best ever made. People all over the world know it, even if they don’t know nothin’ about baseball. You can see it in the Bronx, where the team plays, and even all the way over in China, in some city called Beijing. It’s everywhere, like them dandelions in the spring.
And get this, the logo has changed a few times over the years. They had different designs, different looks. But the “NY” one, that’s the one that stuck. It’s the one everybody remembers. It’s like your grandma’s old recipe, the one that everybody loves and nobody can forget.
So, there ya have it, the story of the old yankee logo, as best as I can tell it. It’s a story about history, about baseball, and about a little “NY” that became a big deal. It’s a story that makes ya think, makes ya appreciate the things that last, the things that stand the test of time. And that, my friends, is somethin’ worth talkin’ about.
In short, that there logo ain’t just some pretty picture. It’s a piece of history, plain and simple. It’s been around a long, long time, and it’s seen a lot. It’s a symbol of the team, sure, but it’s also a symbol of somethin’ bigger, somethin’ about New York, about America, maybe even about life itself. And that’s why it’s so special.
And that’s about all I know about that there logo. It ain’t much, but it’s honest. Just like me. So next time you see that “NY” on a hat or a shirt, remember what I told ya. Remember the history, the stories, and the little “NY” that became a giant. And that, my friends, is somethin’ to be proud of.
