Alright, so today I’m gonna share my experience making a “Jonah Heim Headband”. It all started when I saw Heim rocking one during a game and thought, “Hey, I could totally make that!”

First things first, I grabbed some supplies. I went to the local craft store and picked up some wide elastic headband material – figured that would be the most comfy. I also snagged some felt in the Rangers’ colors (royal blue and red, obviously) and some white fabric paint for the lettering. Didn’t want to go too fancy, just keep it simple and clean.
Next up, measuring and cutting. I measured around my head to get the right length for the elastic, making sure it wasn’t too tight or too loose. Gotta be comfortable, right? I added an inch for overlap and then chopped it. Then, I cut out the felt pieces for the “Heim” lettering. I ain’t got no fancy cutting machine, so it was all done by hand with a pair of scissors. Talk about old school!
Then came the slightly tricky part: painting the lettering. I printed out the “Heim” name in a bold font so I’d have a stencil, and carefully traced it onto the felt with a pencil. After that, I carefully painted inside the lines with the white fabric paint. It took a couple of coats to get it looking solid, and I made sure to let it dry completely between each coat. Patience is key here, folks!
Once the paint was dry, I attached the felt lettering to the elastic headband. I used fabric glue for this part, making sure to spread it evenly on the back of the felt letters. I carefully positioned them in the center of the elastic and pressed down firmly. I then let the glue dry completely – probably longer than necessary, just to be sure those letters weren’t going anywhere.
Last but not least, sewing the elastic together. I overlapped the ends of the elastic by that inch I added earlier and used a sewing machine to stitch them together. If you don’t have a sewing machine, you could hand-stitch it, but honestly, the machine is way faster and more secure. I did a few back-and-forth stitches to make sure it was solid.
And boom! There you have it – a Jonah Heim inspired headband. It’s not perfect, but it’s handmade and shows my support for the team. I wore it to the game last week, and I even got a few compliments. Not bad for a DIY project, right?
