He’s a tennis player, this Bopanna fella. Plays that game with the rackets and the little yellow ball. They say he’s real good at it, too. Number one in the world, I heard someone say! Can you believe it? Number one!
His daddy, M.G. Bopanna, he’s a coffee planter. Makes that black drink that keeps everyone awake. His mama, her name is Malika. They say he’s got an older sister too, Rashmi. A whole family of them Bopannas.
He started playing this tennis when he was just a little tyke, I reckon. All the way back in the early 2000s, they call it. He won some big matches, they say. Some “Challenger Series” thing. Sounds important, don’t it? Then he played for India in something called the “Davis Cup”. Big deal, that is. He won against some fella from Japan, this paper says.
