Alright, let’s talk about this Ronald Acuna Jr. fella and his money, or what they call a “contract.” I heard folks jabbering about it, so I figured I’d try to make sense of it all, you know, like how we figure out if the beans are gonna be any good this year.
So, this young man, Acuna, he plays that baseball game. And seems like he’s pretty darn good at it. The Braves, that’s his team, they gave him a whole heap of money to stick around for a while. We’re talkin’ 100 million dollars! Can you imagine? That’s more money than anyone in our whole town has probably seen in their whole lives put together!
Now, this ain’t just a one-time thing, no sir. This money is spread out over eight years, until 2026, they say. They call it an “extension,” like stretchin’ out a piece of rope. So, every year, he gets a chunk of that money. They say it’s about 17 million dollars a year for a few years there.
- They tell me he got this big deal way back in 2019.
- That was for 100 million smackeroos, to keep him playin’ ball for the Braves ’til 2028.
And get this, they even got some “options” for after that, for 2027 and 2028. Sounds like the Braves are plannin’ on keepin’ him around for a good long while, if he keeps hittin’ them balls and runnin’ fast, I guess.
I heard someone say somethin’ ’bout him makin’ just 17,000 at some point. Maybe that was before he got real famous? Heck, I don’t know. Seems like a pittance compared to all them millions they’re talkin’ ’bout now.
They throw around all these big numbers, like “124 million” is the most he could get, and how he’s already made somethin’ like 38.9 million in his whole career up to 2023. That’s a whole lotta money for playin’ a game, ain’t it?
But here’s the thing that gets me thinkin’. They talk about “guaranteed money” and “options” and all that fancy talk. It’s like tryin’ to figure out how many eggs a hen’s gonna lay – you can guess, but you don’t really know for sure ’til it happens.
And what happens after 2028? Well, they say he becomes a “free agent.” That means he can go play for whoever he wants, whoever’s willin’ to pay him the most, I reckon. Just like if you were sellin’ your best cow – you’d go with the fella who offered the most, right?
This fella, Riley, they say he got an even bigger deal than Acuna, somethin’ that goes all the way to 2032 or even 2033. Sounds like these ball players are doin’ alright for themselves, that’s for sure.
So, that’s the way I see it. Acuna, he’s got himself a good deal, a whole lot of money for playin’ that baseball game. The Braves, they’re bettin’ he’ll keep playin’ good and bringin’ in the crowds. And me? I’m just sittin’ here, tryin’ to make sense of it all, kinda like watchin’ the weather – you know it’s gonna change, you just don’t know exactly when or how.
And you know what else? This fella Harper and that Machado fella, they also got some big money, but seems like Acuna’s gonna do even better in the long run. More money than you can shake a stick at, that’s for sure.
Anyway, that’s what I’ve gathered from all the chatter. Hope it makes some sense to you. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on them chickens.
