Okay, so I was messing around with the NYT crossword today, as I usually do, and I got totally stuck. I mean, completely blank. Then I saw it – a clue that said “Congratulations!” I racked my brain, trying to think of every possible synonym, every celebratory phrase. Nothing clicked.
So, feeling defeated, I did what any modern person would do: I turned to the internet. I typed in “congratulations nyt crossword clue” into the search bar, fingers crossed.
The Search Begins
The first few results were just general crossword solver sites. You know, the ones where you type in a bunch of letters and it spits out possibilities. I tried a few of those, plugging in the letters I did have, but I was still drawing a blank.
Then I started scrolling deeper, looking for something more specific. I figured maybe someone else had been stumped by this same clue and had posted about it somewhere. I was thinking maybe forum, blog, or some other public platform.
Digging Through and Figuring it Out
I must’ve clicked on at least five or six different links. Some were just those generic crossword solver sites, which wasn’t super helpful in this case. I needed some context, not just a list of words. I had tried a few different combinations.
I started getting a little frustrated. It is not fun! How I hate being unable to solve a problem!
I continued inputting letters, trying to find words that were related to the word “congratulations”, but, my attempts were still ineffective!
Finally the correct word!
After searching and searching, I tired many words, and I finally typed the word “bravo”.Bingo!

That was it! It felt so simple once I saw it, but man, it had me stumped for a good while. It’s always that one word, you know? The one that’s right on the tip of your tongue but you just can’t quite grasp it.
