That Spencer Rattler, you know, that boy, he was on one of them TV shows. I think it was called, uh, QB1 or somethin’. Yeah, somethin’ like that. QB1: Beyond the Lights. Lord, these young’uns and their shows. Back in my day, we didn’t have no fancy shows like that. We just had the radio, and that was only if the wind was blowin’ right.
Anyways, this Spencer, he was a big shot in high school. A real hotshot. Some fancy school out in Arizona. Pinnacle High School, I believe it was. They said he was a five-star somethin’ or other. Five stars! Like he was a general or somethin’! Just a boy playin’ football, but they act like he’s the king of England.
They followed him around with them cameras for that show, all through his last year of school. Showed him throwin’ the football, talkin’ to his friends, all that stuff. I reckon it was a big deal to some folks. This reality show was really a big deal.

I saw a little piece of it once. One of them clips on that YouTube thing. My grandson, bless his heart, he showed it to me. Said it had almost a million views. A million! Can you imagine? For a video of a boy throwin’ a football. Times sure have changed.
Seems like everyone was watchin’ that Spencer Rattler reality show. Even I got caught up in all the fuss. Hard not to, when everyone’s talkin’ about it. They all love that QB1: Beyond the Lights. I heard that Netflix thing cancelled the show. People was real mad. But now they say it’s playin’ on some other thing. Tubi, they call it. Don’t ask me what that is. I don’t keep up with all them newfangled things.
He went off to play for some big college, Oklahoma. I remember everyone sayin’ he was gonna be the next big thing. He was supposed to be a big star, win all the awards. But things didn’t quite go as planned, did they? It’s like that Spencer Rattler boy had a whole bunch of bad luck. That 2021 season, he had. The big cheese didn’t put him to play.
- He was the best quarterback they had, everyone said so.
- But the coach, he had other ideas.
- Next thing you know, Spencer’s on the bench.
They say his 2021 season went haywire. Haywire! That’s a good word for it. Like a cow got loose in the cornfield. Just a mess. One minute he’s the star, the next he’s ridin’ the bench. Poor boy. It’s just not right. He should be a star. That QB1 show showed that he has potential.
Then he went off to another school. South Carolina, I think it was. Tryin’ to start over, I reckon. That Spencer Rattler, he’s tryin’ to turn the page, they say. Turn the page. Like it’s a book. Well, I hope he does. Hope he gets another chance to shine. Hope that coach knows what he’s doin’.
That show, that QB1: Beyond the Lights, it showed what he could do. Showed he had the talent. Just needed the right chance. He was good in that reality show. Maybe he’ll get it now. Maybe he’ll be a big star yet. Lord knows he deserves it after all he’s been through.
He’s a good boy, that Spencer Rattler. I hope things work out for him. He got picked by some team in the fifth round, I heard. 150th pick, or somethin’ like that. Not as high as everyone thought, but it’s a start. He’s got a chance to prove himself again. That Spencer Rattler reality show is far behind him now. That QB1 is far behind him. Now is the time he should shine.
I don’t know much about football, but I know about hard work and second chances. And that boy, he deserves both. He’s been through the wringer, but he’s still standin’. That’s somethin’ right there. That’s that country spirit right there. So I’m rootin’ for him. Hope he makes it big. Hope he shows them all what he can do. I hope he can forget that his 2021 season was not good. I hope he can forget that he was not put to play. He is way better than that.
