Alright, let’s talk about this Strickland versus Pereira fight, you know, the one everyone’s been yapping about. I ain’t no fancy fight expert or nothin’, but I watch a scrap or two, and this one, well, it was somethin’ else.
First off, that Pereira fella, he’s a big dude, like a bull in a china shop. Hits like a truck, I tell ya. Poor Strickland, he’s tough as nails, but even nails bend when you hit ’em hard enough. I heard someone sayin’ Pereira won by KO/TKO in the first round, somethin’ about punches to the head. Yup, that sounds about right. Two minutes and thirty-six seconds, that’s all it took. Fast as lightnin’, that fight was over before you could say “bob’s your uncle”. Folks was payin’ good money, seventy-nine ninety-nine I heard, to watch it on that ESPN+ thingy, and poof, it’s done. Makes ya think, don’t it?
Now, Strickland, he’s a scrapper, a real go-getter. He even went and beat that Adesanya fella to win the UFC middleweight title, that’s a big deal. They say he climbed all the way to the top of the mountain, that’s what the fancy folks say. But this Pereira, he’s a different beast altogether. Like a wolf among sheep, that’s what he was. I saw some folks talkin’ about it on that Twitter thing, everyone was buzzin’ like bees around a honey pot.
- Pereira is strong, real strong.
- Strickland is tough, but strength ain’t everything.
- That fight was fast, real fast.
They was showin’ highlights and stuff, and boy, you could see Strickland tryin’, he really was. But Pereira, he just kept comin’, like a train with no brakes. Punches flyin’, and then bam, it was over. Just like that. Made me think of that time my old rooster, Big Red, went up against that stray dog. Big Red was fierce, but that dog was just too much. Same kinda thing, I reckon.
I heard they’re gonna have this UFC 307 thing, and Pereira’s gonna be fightin’ someone else, this Rountree Jr. fella. I don’t know much about him, but I’ll tell ya, he better be tough, ‘cause Pereira ain’t no pushover. They say you can watch it on that ESPN+, same as before. Costs a pretty penny, but folks will pay it, they always do. Fighting is like a moth to a flame, people just can’t help but watch.
This whole fighting business is somethin’ else, ain’t it? Men beatin’ each other up for our entertainment. Makes you scratch your head sometimes, but then again, it’s exciting, I ain’t gonna lie. Keeps you on the edge of your seat, that’s for sure. And that Pereira, he’s a fella to watch, that’s for sure. Mean as a snake, but boy, can he fight.
Strickland, well, he’ll be back, I bet. Tough fellas like him don’t stay down for long. Maybe he’ll get another shot at Pereira, who knows? That’d be a fight worth watchin’, that’s for certain. But for now, Pereira’s the man, the big dog, the top of the heap. He earned it, fair and square. Even I can see that, and I’m just an old woman who don’t know nothin’ ’bout fightin’ except what I see with my own two eyes. And what I saw was a fella gettin’ beat, plain and simple.
And that’s all there is to it. A fight’s a fight, and someone wins and someone loses. That’s just the way of the world, ain’t it? Just like chickens and foxes, someone’s always gotta come out on top. This time it was Pereira. Maybe next time it’ll be someone else. But for now, he’s the one everyone’s talkin’ about.
So yeah, that’s my two cents on that whole Strickland versus Pereira thing. A quick fight, a tough fight, and a reminder that sometimes, no matter how tough you are, there’s always someone tougher. That’s life, I guess.
