Okay, so I’ve always been a HUGE Texas football fan. Like, ridiculously huge. And one of the things I absolutely need is to listen to the games live, no matter where I am. So, this weekend, I decided to get my “Texas football radio” game plan absolutely nailed down.

First Step: Finding the Right Station
First thing I did was grab my phone and started searching. I knew there had to be a flagship station, the main one, right? So, I went digging to find the primary broadcast.
Tuning In (Old School!)
Then, I went into action. I Have an old, kinda beat-up radio – the kind with the antenna you gotta fiddle with. It feels like a pre-game ritual in itself!
I pulled out the antenna, slowly turned the dial… static, static, more static…and then, BAM! I start to hear the very begining of the game.
- Antenna Adjustments: This took some serious work. I was moving it around, up, down, sideways.
- Signal Strength: The closer I got to the window, the better the signal seemed.
The Digital Backup Plan
Of course, I’m not completely living in the past. I also made sure I had a backup plan which I prepared beforehand. It felt good to know I had options.
Game Time!
Finally, with everything set, I grabbed my favorite game-day snacks, and settled in. It was awesome, the familiar voices of the announcers, the roar of the crowd.
Honestly, even though there were a few moments of static and finagling, it made the whole experience more… authentic. It’s like, I earned that listening experience, you know? Go Longhorns!
