Alright, listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about them fellas runnin’ the ball in that football game, the NFL. You know, the ones carryin’ the pigskin. We’re tryin’ to figure out how tall they are, on average. Don’t get all fancy on me, we’re keepin’ it simple.
Now, I heard tell that these fellas ain’t all giants like some of them other players. The average height, they say, is a little bit under 5 foot 11 inches. That’s like, say, you stand up straight and you’re just a hair shorter than your good-for-nothin’ nephew who always eats all the pie. Yeah, around 5 foot 10 and a half, or maybe even 5 foot 11. That’s about 179.65 centimeters, if you’re into that fancy metric stuff.
But not all of ’em are the same, you see. Some are shorter, some are taller. It’s like pickin’ apples, ain’t it? You got your small ones and your big ones. I reckon some of them runners are as short as 5 foot 9, and some are as tall as 6 foot 2. That’s a pretty big difference, if you ask me. But most of ’em, they’re right there in the middle, around that 5 foot 10, 6 foot mark. That’s like 178 to 183 centimeters, you know.
They also weigh a fair bit, these boys. They say the average weight is around 213 pounds. That’s a whole lot of beef, I tell ya. They gotta be strong to carry that ball and not get knocked down by them big fellas on defense. It ain’t easy, runnin’ with all that weight, but they do it. They do it good.
- Now, some of you might be wonderin’, “Why ain’t they all super tall?”
- Well, I reckon it’s ’cause they gotta be quick and nimble.
- Too tall and you might be clunky, like a newborn calf tryin’ to walk.
- These runners, they gotta be able to dodge and weave, you see.
- They gotta be like little ol’ rabbits, dartin’ this way and that.
So, while the average fella playing in the NFL might be taller, like 6 foot 2, these running backs, they’re a bit different. There are fellas in other positions that are much taller and heavier, but runners are built different. They are supposed to be quick. You see, there’s all sorts of numbers tied to these players. They got numbers on their shirts, you know, tellin’ you what position they play and all that. And they keep track of all sorts of things, like how many yards they run and how many times they score. It’s a whole lot to keep up with, but the height, that’s somethin’ we can understand.
Some folks say, the average football player in the NFL is about 6’2” and 245 pounds. But those runners, they ain’t usually that big. Wide receivers and them fellas on defense that try to stop the runners, some of them are smaller too. It’s just like in life, ain’t it? We all come in different shapes and sizes. And in football, just like everywhere else, everybody’s got their job to do.
So, there you have it. The average running back in the NFL ain’t a giant, but he ain’t a shrimp neither. He’s somewhere in between, just the right size for runnin’ that ball and makin’ them touchdowns. Remember, it’s all about speed and agility for these fellas. They gotta be quick on their feet and able to change direction in a heartbeat. And that’s why they ain’t always the tallest guys on the field. They built for speed not height.
And one last thing, don’t go thinkin’ that just ‘cause you’re tall or short, you can’t do somethin’. These running backs, they come in all shapes and sizes, and they all do a good job. It just goes to show ya, it ain’t about how big you are, it’s about how much heart you got. And these boys, they got plenty of heart, I tell ya.
