Okay, so, I’ve been watching a lot of UFC lately, and one fighter that always catches my eye is Jose Aldo. The guy’s a legend, but what really got me curious was that scar on his cheek. I had to know the story behind it, so I did what any curious person would do – I hit the internet.
First, I just started with a simple search, kind of just feeling around for basic info about the scar. Turns out, lots of people have noticed it too! I read some stuff about how it’s one of his defining features, and how it’s not your typical fighter’s scar, like the cauliflower ear.
- Digging a bit deeper, I found a few articles that talked about his career. This guy was the first-ever UFC Featherweight Champion when the WEC and UFC merged in 2010!
- He defended that title seven times. Seven! That’s seriously impressive.
I watched some interviews, and although he didn’t talk about the scar in the ones I saw, I did learn he retired recently. It felt like the end of an era. Apparently, he still had one fight left on his contract, but the UFC let him retire early so he could try out boxing.
Some Personal Stuff
Then I got sidetracked a little and started looking into his personal life. Turns out he’s married to Vivianne Perreira, who’s also into martial arts – she has a purple belt in jiu-jitsu and has even fought Muay Thai professionally a couple of times! They got married back in 2005, and they have two kids, a daughter named Joanna and a son, Jose Aldo III. Seems like a cool family.
So yeah, that’s what I found out about Jose Aldo and his scar. I still don’t know how he got it, but I learned a lot about the guy’s life and career. It was a fun little research project.
