Okay, so I’ve been digging into this whole Russian MMA fighters in the UFC thing, and let me tell you, it’s a wild ride. I started off just wanting to see who the big names are, you know, the ones everyone’s talking about.
First, I just googled something simple like “top Russian UFC fighters.” Man, the lists that popped up! So many names, it was nuts. I recognized a few, like that Khabib guy, obviously, but a lot of them were totally new to me.
So, I started making my own little list, just jotting down names as I came across them. Then I thought, “Hey, why not try to rank these guys?” That’s where things got tricky. How do you even compare fighters from different weight classes and eras? It’s tough!
I found this site, Tapology, where people make their own rankings. The more people rank, the more like, an average ranking comes together. Pretty cool idea. I spent some time browsing those lists, seeing who people thought were the best. There’s this one dude, Aleksei Oleinik, who’s apparently been fighting for like 25 years. Imagine that!
Then I started checking out the official UFC website, you know, to see their records and stuff. It’s crazy how many fights some of these guys have. I mean, over 60 professional fights for some of them! That’s a lot of time in the octagon. And, a lot of these guys are from the “Union of Soviet Socialist Republics”, it was a long time ago.
- Aleksei Oleinik – This guy’s a legend, apparently. 60 wins, 17 losses, 1 draw.
- The lists other people made on that Tapology site.
- The official UFC fighter profiles.
After all that, I tried making my own top fighters list. It’s really just my opinion, but it was fun to think about. It’s wild to see how many tough fighters have come out of Russia. It definitely made me appreciate the sport a lot more. There have been so many great Russian fighters. It’s way harder than I thought it would be to pick the best ones.
Honestly, I went down a total rabbit hole with this. I spent way more time on it than I planned to, but it was pretty interesting. I didn’t realize how big MMA was over there. It is a good thing for me to know about.
So yeah, that’s my little adventure into the world of Russian UFC fighters. I wouldn’t say I’m an expert now or anything, but I definitely know a lot more than I did before!
