Alright, so I finally got around to messing with UFC 4 crossplay. Been meaning to for ages, but you know how it is, life gets in the way. Anyway, here’s the lowdown on what I did and what I found out.

First off, I fired up the game. Obvious, right? But gotta start somewhere. I was playing on my Xbox Series X, and my buddy was on his PS5. We both wanted to throw down, see who’s the king of the virtual octagon.
So, here’s the kicker: UFC 4 doesn’t have full crossplay. I know, bummer. I was kinda expecting to just jump in and start smashing buttons, but no such luck. What it DOES have is crossplay for online career mode. Which is…something.
To actually try the crossplay, I had to dive into the online career. I created a new fighter, went through the whole tutorial rigmarole (punch this, block that, yawn). It’s kinda tedious if you just wanna brawl, but bear with me.
Next, I invited my friend. The interface for this is kinda clunky. You gotta find their EA account, which isn’t always their PSN or Xbox gamertag. It took us a while to actually find each other. Pro-tip: make sure you both know your EA account names beforehand. Saves a lotta headache.
Once we were both in the online career, we could actually play together. We did some sparring, some training challenges, the usual stuff. It was cool to see him there, on his PS5, while I was on my Xbox. Felt like we were actually training together, even though we were miles apart.
Now, the big question: was it worth it? Honestly, mixed feelings. The crossplay itself worked fine, no lag or anything. But the limited scope is a real downer. I really wanted to just do a quick fight against him, not grind through an online career.
So, to sum it up:
- UFC 4 has crossplay, but only for online career mode.
- Finding your friend’s EA account can be a pain.
- The crossplay itself works well.
- It’s not the full crossplay experience I was hoping for.
Would I do it again? Maybe, if I’m really bored and my buddy is itching for some virtual MMA. But I’m still hoping for full crossplay in the next UFC game. Fingers crossed!
