My Dive into the Hailey Welch vs JoJo Siwa Thing
Alright, so I kept bumping into this “Hailey Welch vs JoJo Siwa” comparison floating around online recently. Honestly, at first, I just kinda scrolled past it. Didn’t really grab me. But then I saw it again, and again. People seemed really worked up about it in comment sections.

So, I decided to actually look into it a bit. My process wasn’t very scientific, mind you. I know JoJo Siwa, obviously. The bows, the bright colors, the super high energy. My cousin’s kid was obsessed for a while. You couldn’t miss her. But Hailey Welch? Had to admit, the name didn’t ring a loud bell immediately. So, I did what anyone does, quick search online.
Okay, found her. Watched a few videos of both. JoJo’s got her very distinct, almost larger-than-life stage persona, even in her more recent stuff. Very performative, very polished in that specific energetic way. Hailey Welch, from the bits I saw, seemed… different. More in line with a lot of other online creators maybe? Hard to pin down a direct comparison point that made sense for a “versus” situation.
Why were people comparing them so intensely? That’s what I couldn’t figure out. They seem to operate in pretty different lanes, visually and maybe content-wise too, from my quick look. It felt like comparing… I don’t know, a race car to a comfy sedan? Both are vehicles, but built for totally different things.
What It Made Me Think About
This whole exercise got me thinking less about them and more about how we consume stuff online. We love pitting people against each other, don’t we? Especially women. It’s like we need these matchups to make things interesting.
It reminded me, oddly enough, of something way back. Years ago, I was trying to learn woodworking. Just a hobby, messing around in the garage. I followed this one old timer’s channel online, really calm, methodical guy. And I also watched this younger dude who was all about fast cuts and flashy techniques. People in the comments were ALWAYS arguing about who was ‘better’.
- One guy taught me patience and precision.
- The other showed me some quick tricks for simpler stuff.
They were both useful! But folks online just wanted to declare one the winner. It was bizarre. Why couldn’t you learn from both? Why did it have to be a fight?
So, seeing the Hailey vs JoJo thing just felt like that same pattern repeating. Different styles, probably different audiences, different goals. Making it a competition feels manufactured. Maybe it drives clicks, maybe it’s just how online arguments work now. But my little dive just left me feeling like, eh, let people do their own thing. The comparison doesn’t really tell you much about either of them, just more about how we talk online. Just my observation from poking around a bit.
