Alright, so you wanna know about this Celtics mascot, huh? Well, let me tell ya, it’s a whole thing with this little green fella, they call him Lucky the Leprechaun.
Lucky the Leprechaun, yeah that’s his name. Now, I ain’t no expert on these things, but from what I hear, he’s been around for a good long while. They say he’s over 50 years old, been part of the team’s logo and all that. Can ya believe it? 50 years! That’s a long time to be jumpin’ around in a green suit.

- Always smilin’, that one is
Now, why a leprechaun, you might ask? Well, it’s got somethin’ to do with all them Irish folks livin’ in Boston, I reckon. Lots of ’em over there, so they got this little leprechaun guy to represent, ya know? Seems like a good fit, I guess. Green and white, just like the team colors.
This Lucky fella, he ain’t just standin’ around. He’s out there dancin’ and jumpin’, gettin’ the crowd all riled up. I seen pictures of him at center court, back when they played in that old Boston Garden place. He’s been doin’ his thing for a long time, that’s for sure.
They got this guy, Red Auerbach, he was the coach, I think. Real important fella for the Celtics. Him and his family, they helped make this Lucky fella what he is today. Red asked his brother to design the logo with Lucky, can you imagine? Family business, I guess.
Now, somebody told me this Lucky gig is a real job. Some fella named Damon Lee Blust, he was Lucky for a while, then he left in 2009. Now there’s another fella, Kristofer “Kit” Ackermann, been doin’ it since 2010. They say he makes pretty good money, too, though I ain’t heard exactly how much. Folks whisperin’ about eighty-five, ninety-five thousand dollars a year. That’s a lot of money just for wearin’ a green suit and smilin’, ain’t it?
People love this Lucky guy. He’s always at the games, doin’ his little dances and whatnot. Gets the crowd goin’, that’s his job. And he’s good at it, from what I hear. Always happy, always smilin’, even when the team ain’t doin’ so hot. That’s what a good mascot does, I guess. Keeps everyone’s spirits up.
So, that’s the story of Lucky the Leprechaun, the Boston Celtics mascot. A little green fella, been around for a long time, bringin’ joy to the fans and representin’ Boston’s Irish heritage. He’s part of the team, just like them fellas runnin’ up and down the court. And that’s all there is to it, as far as I know.
