So, I saw the news scroll by the other day, something about Vladimir Guerrero Jr. cutting his hair. Didn’t think much of it at first, you know, guys get haircuts all the time. But then I actually saw a picture.

Wow. That was something else. The dreads were gone. Completely. Took me a second to even recognize him, honestly. He’s had those signature locks for so long, it was kinda part of his whole look on the field.
My First Look and Thoughts
I went looking for some more photos, maybe a video. Found a few clips. Yeah, it’s a big change. Clean cut, short on the sides. Looks younger, maybe? It’s funny how much hair changes a person’s face.
My process was simple really:
- Heard the news buzzing around.
- Pulled up some images online to see it myself.
- Just kinda sat there for a minute thinking, “Huh, okay.”
- Wondered why he decided to do it now. Middle of the off-season makes sense, I guess.
It’s not like it affects how he plays ball, obviously. But it’s still interesting how we get used to seeing people, especially famous folks, a certain way. His dreads were iconic, you could spot him from a mile away. Now, he just looks… different. Not bad, just different.
Thinking Back a Bit
It made me think about other big hairstyle changes in sports. Remember Agassi shaving his head? Or Beckham with his million different styles? Sometimes it marks a new chapter, sometimes it’s just time for a change.
I even remember back in high school, my buddy Dave shaved off his huge afro. We barely recognized him for a week. Took some serious getting used to. It’s weird the little things you remember.
Anyway, Vladdy’s new look. It’s clean. It’s sharp. Guess we’ll see if it sticks or if the locks make a comeback down the road. For now, just another thing to notice when spring training rolls around.
