Okay, so I had this wild idea for a photo. I wanted to create this shot where it looks like someone’s stepping on a superhero, but, like, in a cool, artistic way. So I started by sketching a picture of a normal leather shoe with a hero’s cape under it.

Getting Started
First things first, I needed the right props. I grabbed a pair of my old, worn-out shoes. So worn out that they’re torn.
I picked up some colorful fabric for the cape and even found a piece of hard material that i cut out in the shape of superhero’s logo, I made an “H” shape, not any of the official ones, of course.
Setting Up
Next, I had to figure out the setup. I used a plain, dark backdrop to make the shoe and cape pop, and use a large size of a hard cardboard to hold the shoes up and look like real stepping.
- Position the shoe
- Arrange the cape
- Set the lighting
I played around with different angles until I found one that looked dynamic and captured the “under the heel” vibe I was going for, I made a few adjustments on my own.
The Shoot
I had my camera all set up on a tripod to keep things steady. I took loads of shots, adjusting the lighting and the cape’s position slightly each time.
The main thing I focused on was getting the lighting to hit the shoe in a way that really emphasized the texture and, you know, the fact that it was “dominating” the hero.
Post-Processing
After the shoot, I picked out the best shots and got to work on editing.

- Adjust contrast
- Enhance colors
- Sharpen details
I boosted the contrast a bit to make the image more dramatic and sharpened up the details on the shoe and cape. I also played with the colors to make the cape stand out more against the dark background.
Final Touches
Finally, I made some minor tweaks, like removing any distracting elements and making sure the overall composition was balanced. I wanted the focus to be totally on the shoe and the cape, with no distractions.
The whole process was super fun, and it was awesome to see my idea come to life. It’s not every day you get to make it look like a regular shoe is squashing a superhero!
