Okay, so today I decided to check out the Gael Monfils vs. Daniel Altmaier match. I’ve always been a fan of Monfils’s, you know, flashy style, and I was curious to see how he’d fare against Altmaier.

There was this one point, I think it was in the second set, where Monfils hit this insane around-the-net-post winner. Crowd went wild, I went wild, even Altmaier had to smile at that one. That felt like a real momentum shift.
Kept watching, kept taking my little notes. Noticed Monfils was starting to dictate play more, using his speed to really pressure Altmaier. Altmaier started to look a bit tired, maybe? Hard to say for sure, but that’s the impression I got.
End of the day? Monfils pulled it off. It wasn’t easy, Altmaier really pushed him, but Monfils’s experience and, let’s be honest, his sheer craziness on the court, got him through. Good match, though. Really entertaining stuff.
