My Little Dive into UFC Logos
So, I got kind of hooked on watching UFC fights a while back. You know how it is, you start watching the main events, then the prelims, then suddenly you’re noticing all the little details. One thing that caught my eye was the logo itself. It seemed like it wasn’t always the same.

Out of curiosity, I started digging around. Just simple searches online, you know, looking for pictures of old UFC events, posters, that kind of stuff. It wasn’t super easy finding clean images of the really old logos, the ones from the very beginning. Lots of grainy pictures and blurry screenshots.
I gathered up a bunch of different versions I could find:
- The original, kind of blocky one.
- The one they used for a long time after that.
- The current slicker one.
- Even some logos from specific numbered events or Fight Nights.
Then, just for kicks, I opened up a basic drawing program I have. Nothing fancy. I wasn’t trying to become a designer or anything. I just wanted to trace them, kind of get a feel for the shapes. I started messing around, trying to replicate the lines, the curves.
It was interesting to see how they put them together. The old one felt very… well, old. Strong, maybe, but dated. The newer one is definitely more modern, sharper. I spent a bit of time just looking at the angles, especially how they sometimes use that octagon shape subtly.
Finding high-resolution versions of the older ones was the main headache. And sometimes the colors looked different depending on where I found the picture. It wasn’t like some official project, just me tinkering on my computer when I had some downtime.
I guess I just wanted to see the evolution for myself, up close, instead of just glancing at it on the screen. You see how they tried to change the look as the sport itself got bigger and more polished. It’s kind of neat how much thought goes into a simple logo, even if we don’t always notice it during the fights.
So yeah, that was my little exploration into UFC logos. Didn’t build anything amazing, just spent some time looking closely at something I got curious about. It passed the time, and I feel like I notice the branding stuff a bit more now when I watch.
