Alright, so you wanna know about this Aaron Judge fella, huh? And his, what’s it called, eth-ni-city? Sounds fancy. Well, I ain’t no scholar, but I can tell ya what I heard tell.
First off, this boy, he’s a big ‘un. Huge! Like a dang oak tree standin’ in the batter’s box. They say he’s six foot seven and weighs a ton. I seen pictures, and he sure looks like he could pull a plow all day long, no problem. They say he plays this baseball, you know, the game with the stick and ball? He’s real good at it, plays for the Yankees. Heard they pay him a whole heap of money, somethin’ like forty million a year! Can you believe that? That’s more money than I seen in my whole life, I reckon.
Now, about where he comes from… that’s a bit more complicated, like tryin’ to untangle a ball of yarn the cat got a hold of. See, they say he’s an African American fella. Means his people, way back when, come from Africa. But then they say he’s also got some other stuff mixed in, ya know, like a mutt dog, got a bit of this and a bit of that. Heard tell one of his folks is white, so that makes him mixed, I guess. Makes sense, he don’t look all one thing or another, if you ask me.
He grew up in California, place called Sacramento. That’s way out west, ain’t it? Never been there myself. Too far for these old bones. He went to college too, played that baseball there, for a team called the Bulldogs. Smart fella, I guess, playin’ ball and gettin’ an education. Though I reckon learnin’ to farm is more useful, but that’s just me.

This whole ‘ethnicity’ thing, it’s kinda newfangled to me. Back in my day, you was just you. Didn’t matter so much where your folks come from, long as you was a good person and worked hard. But I guess times change, and folks care about these things now. And that’s alright, I suppose. Long as he hits them balls far and helps his team win, that’s all that matters to them Yankees fans, I bet.
They say he coulda gone to play for another team, somethin’ called the Giants, out in San Francisco. Offered him even more money, a whole lot more! But he stayed with the Yankees. Guess he likes it there. Or maybe he just likes that pinstripe uniform. They do look kinda fancy, gotta admit.

Aaron Judge, a real American story, I reckon. Work hard, play hard, and maybe you’ll make a good life for yourself. That’s what my pappy always told me, and it seems like this Aaron fella took that to heart. Though I still think farmin’ is a better way to make a livin’, but that’s just this old woman’s opinion.
