Okay, so the other day, I was watching a 49ers game, and I noticed something I’d never seen before. There was this “64” sticker on the back of some of the players’ helmets. I was like, “What’s that all about?” I’m a pretty big football fan, but I’m no expert, so I had to do some digging.

My Initial Search
First, I jumped on Google, obviously. I just typed in “64 on 49ers helmet,” and a bunch of stuff popped up. I skimmed through a few articles, and I quickly figured out it was a tribute to a former player.
Diving Deeper
It wasn’t just any player, though. It was for Charlie Krueger, a legendary defensive tackle who played for the 49ers back in the ’60s and ’70s. The articles I read described that this guy was tough as nails.
Putting It All Together
So, I put two and two together. The “64” was Krueger’s jersey number. The 49ers organization decided to honor him by having players wear his number on their helmets, It’s a pretty cool way to remember a legend, I think and it’s all very meaningful.
