So, I was watching some UFC stuff the other day, Strickland was fighting or maybe doing one of his crazy press conferences, you know how he is. And I kinda noticed his hair. Noticed it before, but this time I actually thought about it. It’s nothing wild, right? Just kinda… there. Short. Basic.

Got me curious. Like, what even is that cut? Just a buzz cut? Doesn’t look exactly like a fresh buzz, sometimes it looks a bit grown out, sometimes faded on the sides. So I did what anyone does, pulled out my phone, started looking up pictures. Scrolled through a bunch. Yeah, definitely short all over. Sometimes the sides look tighter, like a fade, other times it looks pretty much the same length all around, just short.
Decided, what the heck, my hair was getting long anyway. Needed a cut. Why not try something super simple like that? Less hassle in the morning maybe. My hair usually just does its own annoying thing if it gets any length.
Heading to the Barber
Went to my usual guy. Felt a bit weird trying to explain it. Didn’t want to sound like some kinda superfan, you know? I just said, “Hey man, can you give me something real short, kinda like that fighter Sean Strickland?” Showed him a quick picture I saved on my phone. He glanced at it, didn’t even blink. Just said, “Ah yeah, simple buzz, maybe leave it a tiny bit longer on top? Like a number 4 or 5?”
I just shrugged, “Yeah, sounds good. Just make it easy to manage.” Didn’t want to overthink it. It’s just hair.
So he grabbed the clippers. Standard procedure. Put a guard on, buzzed the sides and back. Switched guards, maybe went over the top a bit quicker. Whole thing took maybe 15 minutes, max. Felt the usual vibration, saw the hair falling down. Pretty standard haircut experience, really.
The Result
He finished up, brushed me off, spun the chair around. Looked in the mirror. Yep, it was short. Real short. Kinda like the pictures I saw? Yeah, close enough. It’s basically a slightly longer buzz cut, maybe you’d call it a high and tight but without a super sharp fade, or just a long buzz. Definitely simple.
Walked out, felt the air on my scalp. Felt… clean. Easy.
- Washing it takes two seconds.
- Drying it takes less.
- No need for any product or styling.
It’s been a few weeks now. It’s growing out evenly. Still no hassle. Is it exactly Sean Strickland’s hair? Who knows, man. His probably changes slightly depending on when he last got it cut too. But the point was getting something simple, low maintenance. And that’s what I got. So, yeah. Mission accomplished, I guess. Just a practical cut, really. Nothing more to it.
