My Little Dive into Miriam Steyer’s Stuff
Okay, so the other day, I stumbled across the name Miriam Steyer. Can’t even remember where exactly, probably scrolling through some forums or maybe a blog I follow. The name just stuck out for some reason. Didn’t know who she was or what she did, just a name.

Naturally, my curiosity got the better of me. You know how it is. See something new, gotta figure it out. So, I started poking around. Just typed the name into a search engine, see what popped up. Wasn’t looking for anything specific, just wanted the general picture.
Found a few mentions here and there. Seemed like she was connected to some kind of creative work, maybe design or something visual. Saw some images that people linked to her name. Looked kinda interesting, had a specific feel to it. Hard to describe, but it wasn’t like the usual stuff you see everywhere.
So, I thought, alright, let’s see if I can understand what this is all about. I spent a bit of time looking at the examples I could find. Tried to break down what made it tick. Was it the colors? The shapes? The way things were put together?
- First, I just saved a few images that caught my eye.
- Then, I tried to spot patterns. Anything common across them?
- Tried to maybe sketch out a similar idea, just rough, on paper. See if I could capture that vibe.
It wasn’t super straightforward, I’ll tell you that. Information felt a bit scattered. You find bits and pieces, but not like a clear manual saying “Here’s the Miriam Steyer method, step 1, step 2…”. It was more like detective work, piecing things together from different mentions or examples.
I fiddled around for an afternoon, trying to apply some of those ideas to a small project I was working on. Just tweaking some layouts, trying different color combinations based on what I thought I saw in her work. Some attempts looked okay, others were just… weird. Didn’t quite work.
What I Learned
What I really took away wasn’t some magic technique. It was more about seeing a different way of approaching things visually. Even though I couldn’t find a ton of detail, just exploring those examples pushed me to think outside my usual box. Made me try combinations I wouldn’t normally go for.
Didn’t become an expert in whatever Miriam Steyer’s style is, not by a long shot. But the process of digging into it, trying to figure it out, and experimenting a bit? That was useful in itself. Sometimes just looking into someone else’s approach, even if you don’t fully adopt it, sparks something new in your own work. So yeah, that was my little adventure with that name.
