Okay, here’s my attempt at writing a blog post like that example, focused on the “2010 Ohio State Buckeyes Roster”:

Man, I got sucked into a rabbit hole today. Started out simple enough, just wanted to look up something about the 2010 Ohio State Buckeyes football team – you know, that team with Terrelle Pryor and DeVier Posey? One of those squads that felt like they shoulda won it all.
So, I started, like anyone would, by just typing “2010 Ohio State Buckeyes Roster” into the search bar. I figured, easy peasy, I’d get a clean list, maybe on some sports site.
First few results, boom! Rosters, right there. But they were, like, kinda basic. Just names and numbers. I was like, “Nah, I need more.” I wanted the details, you know? Positions, hometowns, maybe even their stats from that year. Get the full picture.
So I started digging deeper. Clicked on a couple more links. One was, I swear, from like, a Geocities page. It was ancient. But hey, it had some more info! It had their heights and weights, at least. Progress!
Then I remembered there’s this whole world of archived web pages. So I went to that Wayback Machine site. Typed in some of the sports sites I’d already checked, but went back in time, to like, 2010, 2011. It was kinda clunky, some of the images didn’t load right, but it was gold.
- I found one page that had little mini-bios for each player!
- Found another with game-by-game stats.
- Even found some old forum posts where people were debating who should start at running back. Nostalgia trip, man.
I ended up spending, like, a solid two hours on this. I got a spreadsheet going, pulling all this info together. It was just a personal thing, I didn’t need to do it, but I was invested. I wanted to recreate that roster, the way I remembered it, but with all the actual facts.
It’s funny, right? Something that started as a quick search turned into this whole project. I guess that’s the internet for you. You go looking for one thing, and end up tumbling down a whole bunch of other paths. But hey, I got my complete 2010 Buckeyes roster. Mission accomplished, even if it took way longer than expected.
