Oh boy, let me tell you about the time I tried to learn everything I could about Yokozuna. You know, the big sumo wrestler guy in WWE? That dude was a monster in the ring, for real!
Getting Started
So, I started my journey by just Googling “Yokozuna WWE.” I wanted to see what this guy was all about. I remembered seeing him on TV back in the day, but I didn’t know much about his story. I stumbled upon some old articles and stuff, which talked about his time in WWF (which is what they called WWE back then, I guess).
Digging Deeper
I dug deeper and found out that his real name was Rodney Anoa’i. Sounds like a chill dude, to be honest. Apparently, he was like 6’4″ and almost 600 pounds! Can you imagine? He was squashing legends like Bret Hart and it’s so cool. I also learned that he became less frequent in the ring by ’96 and had this feud with a guy named Vader. I watched a few clips of that – crazy stuff!
Documentaries and Podcasts
Then I discovered that WWE made a documentary about him on their network, called “WWE Icons.” I gave it a watch, and man, it was pretty good! It covered his whole career. I also found this podcast called “It Doesn’t Matter Podcast,” and they dedicated a whole episode to him. Listening to that was like taking a trip back in time. They talked about how Yokozuna was a big deal when WWE was going up against WCW.
The Sad Part
But here’s where it gets sad. I read that because of his weight, he couldn’t wrestle in some places anymore, and he left WWF in ’98. And then, in 2000, he passed away while he was in England. It’s kind of a bummer, you know? He was a big part of wrestling history.
Reflecting
After all that, I felt like I really knew Yokozuna, at least a little bit. It was cool to learn about his career and how much of an impact he had. It’s kind of sad that he’s not around anymore, but it seems like people still remember him and what he did in the ring. I even saw something about a new guy, Jacob Fatu, who’s making waves in WWE now, and some people are comparing him to Yokozuna. Maybe I’ll check him out next!
Overall, it was a wild ride learning about Yokozuna. One thing’s for sure, I won’t forget that name anytime soon.
